Biography

Brad is an Associate Professor in accounting, joining the Department in July 2003. Prior to that, Brad held various academic positions at Deakin University over a period of ten years.

Brads research and consulting experience encompasses financial accounting and disclosure for both private sector and public sector entities. The application of accounting and reporting techniques in accounting for water resources is a current research focus of Brads work.

Brad has published articles in several international research journals including Accounting, Auditing and Accountability Journal (AAAJ), Accounting Historians Journal, Culture and Policy, Australian Economic History Review and Accounting History (AH), Abacus, Accounting and Finance, and the Journal of Accounting Education. Brad has also presented research papers at several international conferences and acted as ad hoc reviewer for several research journals, including AAAJ, Abacus, Accounting Business and Financial History, AH, Issues in Accounting education.

In recent years Brad has also demonstrated an ability to attract external research funding. His research priorities involve a range of industry partners, including the National Water Commission, CPA Australia, the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Australia and the National Institute of Accountants (NIA). These projects have attracted over $400,000 in funding from the Australia Research Council and from the National Water Commission (NWC) and has resulted in a report on the Information Requirements of Users of Water Accounting Reports for the NWC, an Issues Paper on Water Accounting for the NIA and a range of publications in the professional journals of the professional accounting bodies. A number of additional research initiatives emanating from this work are currently in progress.

His diverse teaching experience encompasses accounting at all undergraduate levels as well as at postgraduate level and executive education, both in Australia and overseas.
